Overview

Cambridge English First (FCE – First Certificate in English) examination is taken by many thousands of students each year, highly recognised and accepted globally as evidence for further study by universities and institutions.FCE course aims to help students understand intermediate and upper intermediate level of English demonstrate independent study skills, and is ideal if you want to work or study abroad or to develop a career which require language skills (e.g. business, medicine, engineering).

This focused exam course will improve your general English, speaking and listening communication as well as exam techniques, vocabulary, grammar and skills relevant to FCE exams. Finally, as the holder of this certificate, you have the proof of your general English language skills equivalent of Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) level B2.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED? 

You will complete regular progress tests and practice exams in class with your teacher. The FCE consists of four examinations as follows: Reading and Use of English: 1 hour 15 minutes Candidates need to be able to understand texts from publications such as fiction and non-fiction books, journals, newspapers and magazines.

Writing: 1 hour 20 minutes Candidates have to show that they can produce two different pieces of writing: a compulsory task in Part 1, and one from a choice of three in Part 2.

Listening: 40 minutes (approximately) Candidates need to show they can understand the meaning of a range of spoken material, including lectures, radio broadcasts, speeches and talks.

Speaking: 14 minutes Candidates take the Speaking test with another candidate or in a group of three, and are tested on their ability to take part in different types of interaction: with the examiner, with the other candidate and by themselves.
